The Most Beautiful Thing…

…I heard today:

“At church we prayed for the soul of Gerald Ford.  And then we prayed for the soul of Saddam Hussein.”

If you don’t understand how wrong the execution of Saddam was, how it demeans all that we are as Americans, as human beings, brothers and sisters who answer to some higher truth…

Read Lynching the Dictator, by the always insightful Christopher Hitchens.

Just when oh when…are we going to learn.  My heart hurts for all of us.

xo, Angela

PostScript:  This blog is certainly not the venue for such heavy topics.  But so many of my friends, acquaintances, associates see this differently than me, I felt that I had to at least give my voice to this.  Tomorrow we should be back to our regularly scheduled blogging.

There is nothing more precious than life and as always Angela shares her heart and soul with us, in the hope that we see or can be shown a great truth.

Thank you for reminding us that we do not have the right to take another person’s life, nor the wisdom.

    Peace.

In keeping with everything else about our adventure in Iraq, even the task of bringing Saddam to justice was allowed, in the end, to became politicized. We allowed it to be turned into a repulsive charade of Shiite vengence.

Hitchens was one of the bloviating pundits that strongly advocated the invasion of Iraq. I now usually ignore almost anything he has to say. However, he’s right about our role in the conduct of Saddam’s execution. In another instance of inept blundering, we’ve allowed one of the worst dictators on the planet to be turned into a martyr for the Sunni cause.

Great work. Once again, “Mission Accomplished.”

Can I say again how much I LOVE you, Angela? I LOVED reading this post, so much, in fact, that I had to stroll over to your site and take a “looksie” at a few things… Can we set up a book exchange or a readers circle? Please, mistress? 🙂 But seriously~OMG, you’ve read, “The Known World”. One of my favorites. In the meantime…check out “Cane River” by Lalita Tademy or ANYTHING by J California Cooper. (I think you’ll love them.) Between seeing that on your list of books and reading this post, I’ve decided that I’m COMPLETELY enamored with you. Forever. Email me, chica 🙂

As much as I love you, my Dear Angela, how could I not respect your opinion(s)? You have a heart much more forgiving than my own, I admit. But, that is what makes you the person you are…

We all seem to forget that “vengeance is mine, saith the Lord.” It’s not a proper human response. Although I do expect that, like Desi Arnaz, God is now saying “Saddam, you got some ‘splainin’ to do!”

Angela, you’re asking the average internet traveler to swallow concepts that are larger than most can comprehend.

Whoever your drummer is, I sure like the way you march.

    Blog on, spunky lady.

My father once told me that politics and religion were the two topics never to bring up at a dinner party. Or in a fetish blog? You’ve woven them both in here, Angela – but the conversation has not gotten testy because you’ve made us all sit back for a moment and think. It seems that, whatever the topic, you can get inside our heads and make us see the world differently. Sometimes it’s kink and sometimes it’s just basic humanity. I love seeing all aspects of human behaviour through your tolerant and naughty eyes. Kisses.

You handled this with your characteristic good heart and class, Angela. That an evil man was killed in an evil way is not justice, it seems to me.
