A couple of things come to mind.
First we need to use some form of profiling. I hear in Israel they interview every passenger.
Second, the scanners may not be the best. Some have said that the devices introduce too high levels of radioactivity and are not as safe as some other units. So why did we buy boat loads of the wrong units?
Thanks! I enjoyed this. Seeing the old stews from the 60s in their minis was fun. There was even an Elvis sighting. Brings back old memories.
Flying used to be such fun! Now the way passengers are treated, it’s like taking a prison bus ride in Orwell’s 1984. Did Osama Bin Laden change America’s way of life? He sure did.
Some of the news reports on what some travelers are experiencing are simply horrendous. We are losing our rights daily and nobody seems to seriously give a shit.
That said, I was on two flights recently and was neither scanned or “groped,” while others were. I’m not clear on exactly why.
Do we need to be safe? Hell yes. But there has to be some balance. How do we do that? Got me!
I sincerely hope that Americans refuse, refuse, refuse to put up with this. It’s an invasion of privacy and against everything this country is about.
So chalk one up for the terrorists and political form over substance. What a monumental waste of time to not target likely suspects. Imagine if the police ran a robbery investigation like this.
Flying is a lovely way to travel … if you have the time.
Happy Thanksgiving! Hope everyone stuffs themselves and has a great holiday. Four days off! Yay!
