how to self actualize | |
Try to learn to breathe deeply, really to taste food when you eat, and when you sleep, really to sleep. Try as much as possible to be wholly alive with all your might, and when you laugh, laugh like hell. And when you get angry, get good and angry. Try to be alive. You will be dead soon enough.
— Ernest Hemingway
Beautiful Miss Angela
You well instruct me, Mistress. These words are both guidance and command. They are a recipe for a good life.
Absolutely a great thing to learn. Not an easy task. Anything worth attaining is difficult and should be. As for the last sentence; truer words were never written.
Hemingway certainly earned his place in the pantheon of great writers. Here’s another quote: “There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self.”
Wounded in WWI, survived 2 plane crashes and, more seriously, 4 wives, he crammed a lot of living into 62 years.
An observation to live by.
(too bad Hemingway didn’t)
